Did you know that over 90% of US contractors can't fill their positions? This worker shortage is expanding daily, which means there are more jobs available in transportation than ever.  We want to help you prepare for whatever work you choose, including a career in transportation. 

The UNM OJT/SS Program is designed to provide free, accessible learning to New Mexico residents interested in a career in transportation. This program is funded by the New Mexico Department of Transportation to support minorities, women, and underserved populations in New Mexico. This program is completely FREE, fully funded, self-paced, and broken into sections designed to give you insights into a future career in transportation. When we say it is free, we mean it is 100% free to you at all stages of the program.

  1. Plan Reading
  2. Transportation Math
  3. Resume Building
  4. Workplace How-To's

When you finish this program, you'll receive an NMDOT-backed certificate of completion to provide to future employers. Plus, after you complete this program, you can request to take one of the following courses for FREE while supplies last:

  • OSHA 10
  • OSHA Education Center Heavy Equipment Safety Course online
    • Excavator
    • Skid-steer
    • Dump Truck
    • Backhoe
    • Front-End Loader
    • Forklift Certification
    • Aerial and Scissor Lift
    • Telehandler
    • Pallet Jack

To participate:

  1. Register for the program.
    1. You can start learning right away!
    2. All learning is self-paced.
  2. Pass all assignments/tests through our online modules
  3. Receive a graduation package and certificate.
  4. Apply for jobs and start your transportation career!

Eligibility for Program:

  • Must be a New Mexico resident (verified for OSHA Education courses only).
